Ben Diamond - Classical Guitarist.

From St. John’s Newfoundland and Labrador, Ben Diamond is an up and coming classical guitarist who is described as “a natural performer who infuses his interpretations with energy, excitement, and a broad expressive range”. Recent accolades include winning the 2021 Arts NL Emerging Artist of the Year award, 2021 CBC 30 under 30 classical musicians list, and Second Place in the 2022 Twisted Spruce guitar symposium competition. Ben is currently based in Montreal Quebec where he recently graduated from the M. Mus in performance at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University in the studio of Steve Cowan. It is in Montreal where Ben continues to perform, educate, and collaborate with musicians in a variety of endeavors. An advocate for new music, Ben’s debut album PRIME was released in 2020, serving as a unique contribution to the growing list of 21st century Canadian works for guitar by living composers. This project received a nomination for the 2021 MusicNL “classical recording of the year” award, and led to further world premieres. He has performed in contemporary music festivals such as “Sound Symposium” (NL, 2022), the “21st Century Guitar Conference” (ON, 2019), and organized many virtual concerts as former president of the Atlantic Guitar Society. In the future, Ben hopes to continue creating new community projects, maintain a busy online presence, and educate musicians of all backgrounds to help them share the same passion for music. Ben is an ambassador for Augustine Strings, and performs on guitars by Ross Chiasson.
